Charles Manson GoFundMe page shut down

Crowdfunding site GoFundMe has shut down a page that was trying to raise funds for the funeral expenses of deceased Charles Manson.

Manson’s grandson, Jason Freeman, however hasn’t given up hope, “If we can’t raise money with GoFundMe, we’ll find another way. It will definitely be a group effort. It’s not just one person, it’s a lot of people holding hands,” he told the Daily News.

After a conversation with friend, John Jones, Freeman, 41, told his friend that he needs to help with the funeral because he had lost his job earlier in the month and has three children to support.

Freeman was on a walk on Thanksgiving when he heard the news that the page had been shut down. When asked if he knew the reason behind the deactivation he replied, “I have no clue.”

As Freeman resides in Ohio he has to make it to the Kern County Coroner in California within the ten-day window to assert his next-of-kin status and claim Manson’s remains. Freeman told The News, “It’s a family obligation.”

Jason blamed Manson for the death of his father, who committed suicide in 1993; until he started speaking on the phone with Manson when he got to a place of “forgiveness” with his grandfather.

Time is moving quickly for Freeman and if Manson’s remains aren’t claimed it will be dependent on the arrangements that he made for himself before his death.

Manson was taken to hospital on the 16th November, died of natural causes in hospital at the age of 83.

His death has brought his gruesome murders back to light,  however president of the Association of Deputy District Attorneys for Los Angeles County, Michele Hanisee, released a statement on the 20th of November saying, “Today Manson’s victims are the ones who should be remembered and mourned on the occasion of his death.”

Charles Manson may finally be gone but his notoriety will surely live on for generations.
